I happened to be reading an article yesterday on FOXNews (surprise, surprise) about some “church” protestors showing up at a soldiers funeral in protest. This is a column that Capt. Dan Sukman writes for FOXNews to give us readers an inside look at life in Iraq. Well this recent column sparked something inside me, let’s call it complete and utter disgust, so I decided to respond to Capt. Dan. Well FOXNews posted part of that email I sent him on their site today http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,200310,00.html.
I wanted to convey to Capt. Dan that these “church protestors” do not and are not speaking for Christ-following believers of this country. Apparently they were protesting anti-gay rights at this soldiers funeral that had nothing to do with any gay rights. I can not imagine the hurt and anger that family is feeling towards that group of people. It is the very nature of these things that turn people away from the truth of Christ in their very time of need. This family need to be loved on, not protested at. I hope that the folks that read his column and Capt. Dan himself can see that this is not an extension of God’s love, but a self gratifying, perverse cult of “church” going people.
